Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed material takeoffs and quantity takeoffs for structural metal fabrication projects
Prepare accurate estimates, bids, and pricing proposals
Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify scope and potential cost impacts
Prepare submittals, revisions, and RFI responses
Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, clients, and internal team members
Communicate with clients and vendors by phone when necessary
Support pre-construction activities and subcontractor coordination
Manage multiple estimates and project deadlines simultaneously
Work within the company's internal job tracking and AI-powered quoting system
Collaborate remotely with Mark VeRost and the senior estimator to review estimates and maintain pricing accuracy
Identify potential scope gaps, discrepancies, and estimating risks before bids are submitted
Required Skills & Abilities
3+ years of structural fabrication estimating experience
Strong experience with takeoffs, bid preparation, and cost estimation
Background in structural steel, custom metal fabrication, or related heavy fabrication
Strong attention to detail and a proven track record of estimate accuracy
Fluent English, both written and verbal
Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team
Comfortable learning and working within multiple software platforms and internal systems
Able to commit to a full-time, 40-hour/week schedule
Experience with wastewater treatment projects
Experience estimating skids, heavy structural projects, or complex custom fabrication
Experience working on US-based construction or fabrication projects
Civil engineering degree or equivalent technical/trade experience
Experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar estimating/construction software
Previous experience working remotely or with distributed teams
A portfolio or examples demonstrating accurate, detailed structural fabrication estimates
Experience handling multiple project types, including wastewater treatment, structural steel, and custom fabrication
Strong understanding of fabrication processes, materials, labor, and project costs
Proven ability to manage multiple bids without sacrificing accuracy
Experience working independently in a remote or distributed environment
Direct, practical, and results-oriented
Accuracy and reliability are highly valued
