Key Responsibilities
We’re looking for an epic Senior or Lead Mobile Engineer with deep expertise in iOS native development and a product mindset. We’re looking for someone to help bring native performance and UX to our existing ReactNative app. You should be hands-on and collaborative, refining our ability to deliver a top-tier native mobile experience as we grow. We care about how you think and act: curious, thoughtful, practical, and someone who takes absolute ownership.
You’ll partner with an experienced Android engineer, bringing strong opinions on what a modern iOS app architecture looks like. You should have experience working in existing codebases and ideally across platforms; our mobile codebase is split across ReactNative, Kotlin, and Swift, and you’ll be spending a lot of time in each. Experience in building offline-first functionality is a strong plus. As a leader within our team, you will help set technical direction, provide product input, and improve the developer experience across the board.
Lead the architecture and implementation of core features for the Halter app, with a focus on deep native integration and components.
Collaborate closely with our React front-end engineers, guiding the domain to ensure seamless and performant interop.
Bring a strong product lens, working with Design and Product to make smart trade-offs and ship high-impact mobile features fast.
Use AI tools (e.g. Claude, Cursor) to boost quality and speed without sacrificing readability or tests.
Drive mobile app performance from every angle, focusing on metrics and optimisations to deliver a quick user experience and have minimal impact on battery life.
Build resilient flows and graceful error handling for real-world field conditions, with a focus on supporting offline-first functionality.
Evolve and build out our mobile design system and UI patterns.
Raise the bar through reviews, pairing, mentoring, and upskilling our existing React engineers.
Are deep in iOS native development and have strong opinions on mobile architecture, and systems to deliver an optimal native experience.
Experience, and scars, with App Store releases at scale, design systems, and mentoring mobile engineers.
Experience with React Native, understand how this maps to the iOS platform.
Demonstrate an obsession with performance optimisation and improving DX for mobile engineers.
Have shipped complex, high-performance native iOS applications in cross-functional teams.
Thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Understand performance deeply, accessibility, testing, and maintainability.
A degree is a bonus, not a requirement.
